Born in USA, 1987

2005-2009 Studied Biology at the University of Marlyand

2010-2012 Studied Conservation Biology at Columbia University

After discovering a Pentax K-1000 in his parents'  closet, Michael was initially drawn to the mechanical elegance of the older film equipment. This curiosity only later extended to acts of interpreting light and capturing images. Michael's first teenage job was photographing jewelry for internet sales. Although he benefited from continued training in fundamentals of the art, he found photography to be most fulfilling when combined with his first loves of wilderness experiences and understanding ecological phenomena.

A biologist by training, Michael had the fortune of traveling for academic and professional studies; affording him the opportunity to explore new subjects and environments. His work has also provided him with training in new photographic techniques with experiences in extended focus photography for curatorial documentation of insect collections at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History.
